To sum up those two weeks I spent in Atlanta in a phrase would be challenging but rewarding. Although this camp was super hard, I learned so much more than I thought I possibly could. I grew so close to God in the way I praise and how I am learning to let go of myself and reach more towards God. A few of the ways that they had us train at training camp were to like sleep in tents, portopottys, hand washing cloths, hikes with our packs, bucket showers, and the things they gave us to eat. I am confident that I lost weight at that camp. The first day was Asia day so that meant when we would eat we would use chopsticks and only eat Asian food. We would also have to pay Namaste everywhere we went which is just a little bow and it is they way they show respect in that part of the world. The days got progressively harder throughout the week. Like Africa day we would eat things like crickets, India day we would have to wear pants and the girls would have to keep their heads covered to respect the culture, and as the week went on they stopped giving us utensils or plates so we would have to eat with our hands. But the hardest day was travel day. This was suppose to mimic a day that we would be going from country to country. The day started by them giving us all the food that we had for the day that morning. This meant we would need to find a way to ration all this food between 8 people for the whole day. Not to mention who was going to carry it and how are we going to keep it cold. This was extremely challenging especially because all of us were very hungry by the end of the day. All these challenges made me realize what it really means to take up my cross and follow Jesus. I will need to let go of the comforts of america and my home to fulfill what God has called me to do. But that’s okay. Its worth it:)
