About two weeks ago we were in a big city called Silchar at our mid-point debrief, which means we are officially halfway through the race. Silchar is exactly what you would expect from a city in India. It is crowded, loud, dirty, and covered in hatred, sin, and spiritual darkness. This place is in desperate need of the Holy Spirit and a light that only the Son can provide. As soon as we stepped foot in the city, several of us were having headaches, experiencing physical illnesses, and having our thoughts attacked. These aspects felt even more heightened since we were coming from Saiphai, where we felt like we were at home.

The second night we were here, something happened that put one of the girl teams in danger. It was an extremely serious and disgusting situation that left us all in shock. The next night after session, Logan, Izac, and I went back to our room and Logan told us he didn’t feel good. We spent a good half hour worshiping and praying over our room for the darkness to leave. I could feel the darkness leave, and Logan and Izac agreed. We all then decided to go to the room where the incident happened with the girls team. As soon as we asked them if we could pray for their room they said, “Yes, please.” We prayed for peace, physical protection, that the room would be a place of rest, revival, comfort, and that if they dreamed, they would dream of Jesus. Because God is light and there is no darkness in him at all, we decided to bring his light down into the room and in our thoughts so everything that was not of him had to leave.

Praying for that team was so fruitful that we decided to go to every other teams rooms to pray. That hotel in Silchar was a very dark place and we were all affected by it. After we finished every room but two. One of them was our squad leader Cal and the other was a girl who had been sick for the past few days and said she was experiencing serious spiritual warfare. She was asleep when we got to her room so we put our hands on her door and prayed for her thoughts and dreams to be uplifting and filled with joy.

After that, we went to Cal’s room and began praying over him, but mid-prayer I felt a huge urge to go pray for the room we had just prayed for again. We all put our hands on her door once more and I could physically feel the darkness that was in that room. All three of us we praying, but I was still felt so oppressed by the darkness that was lingering over us. I found myself shouting and raising my hands to the sky declaring the name of Jesus because at his name the darkness flees. Amazingly, I felt the darkness lift and we finally all had peace about going back to our room.

To end the night, Logan played worship music and Izac and I read powerful Psalms out loud. We read Psalm 121, 139, 118, and 23, which are all so powerful and so comforting. The next morning we saw the girl whose room we had been so intently praying over, and she said that she woke up feeling physically better, with a good mood and no dark thoughts in her mind.

Praise the Lord for his power and his faithfulness.
