It’s crazy to think that I’m going to be back in Michigan in a couple weeks! The race is coming to a close, and these past two weeks have been phenomenal here in Myanmar. I didn’t even know Myanmar was a country or how to pronounce it last year, and now I’m living here with my team and I love it! I’m currently sitting on my sleeping pad writing this blog on the floor where the nine other guys on our team all sleep. I love being altogether in our last country, because pretty soon we might not ever all be with each other again. Hopefully though at reunions and Ty’s wedding, and maybe other weddings if any of us can manage to get girlfriends.
Our ministry is a little different than expected, but so awesome. We teach English to a group of teenagers on Tuesday and Wednesday morning and to adults on Wednesday and Thursday night and have a small day care for kids Wednesday through Friday around noon. I love it because teaching English is our ministry, but the main hope is to hangout with the students and build relationships and share the love of God. We also have a church service on Sunday where they can come and learn some English and then we worship and have a little service and small group afterwards. We’ve made some good friends here, one of the guys I’m closest with is named Aung Chan Nyein A.K.A. bunny. We’ve hungout with him quite a bit and gone to the arcade and played soccer and a lot more.

All these guys have been a blast getting to know and we always have fun hanging out. On Monday we’re leaving for the beach with about ten of the students and we’re going to stay there for a few days and do ministry there, which is going to be so sweet.

Some quick fun facts about Myanmar:

•You can eat a delicious big meal for 2,300 kyats, which is about $1.50
•The government shuts down the power at least once a day
•When it’s 100 degrees with no AC or fans it’s kinda hot
•When you buy a shirt form a local shop, the workers will love you and say “hello Jesse” even if you pass by 4 times everyday because they’re so nice
•People stare… a lot
•You can buy a fake Rolex for $12
•Men wear dresses called longyis’
•I have a longyi

Also Happy late Mother’s Day Mom!!! I love you so much and am going to give you a gigantic bear hug in a couple weeks.
