1 Timothy 4:12-

“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.”

Broken Down-

  • Speech: Speak life into others and let your tongue be free of slander. Bring light to God’s word and tell others about who He is.
  • Conduct: Be a Godly influence to others and don’t involve yourself in things that are against the Word.
  • Love: Love despite faults, forgive, be kind to everyone.
  • Faith: Allow God to show His strength through your weakness.
  • Purity: You are constantly washed by His blood.

This verse has stuck out to me since the first time I read it. Being a teenager with less than 30 days left of high school, I’ve been questioned a lot about my future. “Where are you going to college? Are you sure you want that major? Why would you ‘waste’ half of your summer on a mission trip?” The questions never stop and although they are mostly from people who genuinely care about me, they still cause me to become anxious of who I am and if my decisions are the right ones. Thus causing me to question my life plan, my calling in life, etc. But in the midst of all the questioning, this verse has brought me peace. I am young and I may not know what I’m doing half the time, but this verse calls the young to be an example to others by trusting His process, showing His love, and having faith in His strength.
