Did you know that hearing and listening are two different things? Hearing is the act of perceiving sound by the ear and is very easy to do, and listening is where your brain actually processes something and requires concentration. Most people will hear something important and it won’t actually stick because they weren’t choosing to take it in.
My whole life I’ve been in church and I’ve heard the stories in the Bible over and over again. I knew the names and stories but up until two years ago I didn’t really choose to understand how they could help me in my trials. I wasn’t listening to what God was trying to show me.
When you finally make the decision to start listening to the Holy Spirit and taking action in the things that you believe you need to do you will no longer be stagnant. Growing up I heard people talk about missionaries and it was never even a thought for me to go out and do the things that they did. When I found The World Race at first I was in doubt that I would even be accepted. I didn’t think that I was equipped for something like this, so when I was told that I would be going to five different countries for nine whole months it took a little bit to sink it. I chose to start listening to God’s plan for me. His plan is greater than any of our own.
The support I’ve been given so far has been incredible. Little blessings just keep popping up like last week one of my family members sent me the money I needed to buy my passport, then a sweet lady at my church took the 100 box in my Adopt a Box fundraiser within the first 24 hours, then my birthday was yesterday and so many people sent me money for my fund. Thank you to all of my friends and family that bought a t-shirt or adopted a box.
