Romania was our third country on the Race and it was awesome! I loved every minute of it. I loved living among gypsies, I loved the culture of the Romanians, I loved the Pastor, Raul, and I loved all of our contacts. For me, there wasn’t just one favorite part-there were two.
Romania was the first chance I had to work with children. I had been wanting to do some type of children’s program the previous two months, but hadn’t had the chance. When we arrived in Romania, we were given a schedule of week and told that we could choose what we wanted to do each day. As much as I could, I chose working with the children.
Sometimes, working with the children meant helping them with their school work in one of the room in the church. Other times, it meant taking them to a soccer field or someone’s house and reading some Bible stories and playing games with them. The children came to know me well and enjoyed it when I came. One day, I walked in to the church and all the kids turned around, looked at me and yelled my name with massive smiles on their faces. I loved it! Seriously, it was so awesome that they did that and it showed me how much they really enjoyed me being there!

The next best part of Romania came when our team and the other team that was living with us discovered all the ancient clothes from the Netherlands and England stored in boxes. These were donated clothes, but we were told that we could look through them. What we found was a treasure chest! I’m not sure who came up with the idea, but it was decided to do a gypsy photoshoot J
I think there were 12 of us and we looked through all the boxes to put together the gaudiest, craziest looking outfits that we could imagine! Once we did that, we walked outside and up the street a bit to take some pictures near some gypsy mansions. The best part was when cars driving by would stop and honk at us and the people would laugh! I loved it!!!!!
I know this is best and worst, but there isn’t a worst. I enjoyed every minute of Romania and would go back in a heartbeat If I knew God was telling me to do so. And that’s that.
