This week has been a crazy week, full of ups and downs. But like always God speaks to me…
On Wednesday I was really struggling with support raising. It was our first deadline … I needed to have in 1000$ and only had 586$
I was discouraged, not only because I had failed at meeting my 1st goal, but also because I was struggling with motivating people and myself.
My thoughts were, do people just not care, do they not understand how much they matter to this cause, and I can’t do this without their help.
All day I turned my focus to trying to find someone who could say the right things, touch hearts, open wallets…
Then Thursday was what could only be described as a Challenging day. I was angry at myself for some choices that could have been better… I was tired and I lacked motivation.
Then I picked up Radical by David Platt…
I have not gotten very far yet, but what did happen is that I was reminded that Jesus is all the motivation I need to inspire people.
Jesus has called us to live a life of surrender. To give freely to those in need, to bless and be blessed. Matthew 19:21 says it best where Jesus says “If you want to be perfect, go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
No I am not “the poor”, but by supporting me you are in essence giving to the poor. We will spend a year submerged with the poor, with those in need of food, shelter, love, and Christ.
Jesus calls us to abandon everything and pick up our cross and follow him and he will bless us beyond our wildest imagination.
I still need your help, I still have only raised 586$… I know many are facing financial issues, but could you commit to 10 or even 25 dollars a month. If 60 people gave 25.00 a month, for 11 months I would reach my entire goal.
Maybe you have a jar of change or that compartment in your car where you throw your change.
Maybe you have a Starbucks or breakfast/lunch habit, skipping only once a week and giving that money would add up faster than you know.
Even the smallest gestures will reap huge rewards.
