In order to continue raising financial support and also give others the chance to obtain something original and unique for helping support my trip I chose to do a silent art auction of personal artwork. I have spent my winter working on an 11-piece painting series. The subject of each painting is based on elements from each country I will visit and each is painted in the colors of that country's flag.
I began this series with no clear vision of how it might end but throughout the process I moved from a very flat/graphic style to more shaded and detailed pieces. While creating this series, the order in which I painted each piece does not follow my schedule—but rather what subject matter inspired me at that time.
As you look at the whole collection you will see the evolution of this stylistic transformation. The paintings, as a group, continue to live within the same theme but stylistically, are completely different from beginning to end.
This reflects how I foresee myself changing along the way.
