Hello!
I am alive and doing well in Balti, Moldova!
I pushed hard to blog throughout Africa and Asia; planning, processing and looking for wifi so I could keep my home base informed, but as soon as I arrived in Europe (where wifi is free and readily available) the need to blog and keep readers informed disappeared! I guess I have to process what that’s about later- but for now, I sincerely apologize because it has been months since I have updated you! So so sorry!
The Place:
It is month 10 already! My teammates and I are living in a beautiful mission house that will be converted into a home for foster children soon after we leave. The home is located in the upper-class area of town so, I am not personally facing the reality that Moldova is the poorest country in Europe. We even have a guard dog to protect us, her name is Jess! (Let’s be honest, she’s not that intimidating at all!)
The Process:
Our ministry this month is down town at the local university. We go to the club every day to teach English, play games with students and have bible studies. Last week we started this new outreach at the college to find out where students are with faith and what they believe in- it’s been quite an experience because not too many Moldovans speak English. Nevertheless, we were able to have some cool conversations with the few students who are studying English.
The People:
The students we work with on a daily basis are enthusiastic to learn from us and hear what we have to say. I had the privilege of leading the women’s bible study the past two Thursdays- many of the ladies wanted to talk about, well, things that most ladies want to talk about, so it was helpful to bring them lessons I learned about through college classes.
The Prayer:
-Please be praying for this team: Mandie, Emma, Jess, Kris, Shelby, Arianna, and Mary
-it’s so easy to think, “it’s the end of the race and I don’t need to learn anything else” or “I’m just going to cruise to the finish line and not fight for the teammate next to me” or “let me just scroll on facebook because I really don’t want to be with my team right now” BUT PLEASE: pray for our hearts to be humbled, to be teachable and to be present until the last day on the race, pray we don’t fall into apathy because that could be so easy
-Please pray for Aiden who is one of our hosts this month. He is from England and does an amazing job in the ministry.
-pray for the students that we will interact with for their hearts to be open to hearing what we have to say
Thank you for praying!
Blessings
