Tonight in the Throne Room (written 6/9- Cambodia)
As most nights here in Cambodia, I spent the evening in my tent reading and listening to music. I’ve been challenging my brain to do multiple things at a time. These times have been so refreshing, insightful and restful for me.
But it wasn’t until after I set all these things aside that I stepped into God’s throne room.
As I began to allow my spirit to reach towards God’s- I saw Him. Well, I saw His foot, on the throne. I poured out my brokenness and my need for Him. I expressed my longings to keep growing into His perfect design for me in all the ways He’s been highlighting. I shared my desire to know His character- to know Him more as I read His active, life-changing, transforming, relation-focused Word. I surrendered my family and my future over to Him, trusting that it’s all in His sovereign hands.
As I glanced over at His feet, I commented on His sandals, saying, “nice shoes, where’d you get them?” This comment of nerves and humor made God laugh! I saw His feet bounce as if the rest of Him were rolling with laughter. I felt such joy, relief, love- it brought me to tears.
He extended His hand to me and cradled me in His arms as I sobbed. I felt like I could just be. I could just be in His arms, tears and all. As I let it all settle to Him, the next thing I knew He had placed me in His throne, just to sit, as He stepped away to take care of all that I had given Him.
He went to fight for me and left me to simply be still.
God is a mighty warrior who wants to fight for you! Have you taken the time to surrender what you’re battling to the Father? There are so many instances in the Bible where God fights for His people. Ultimately, He sent His Son to secure every victory upon victory.
“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
1 Corinthians 15:57
