Psalm 27:8

“My heart says to you, Seek His face!
Your face, Lord, will I seek.”

Why the face of God? Why not His heart or His hands or His will or some other understandable part of the Lord?

I asked God, why do you want me to seek your face?

His answer:

Faces show emotion. If I look to see the face of the Lord, I will see how He feels. I will see what hurts Him, what makes Him happy, what makes Him angry.

Faces house eyes. If I’m looking to the face of the Lord I will see where He is looking. I will be able to better follow Him if I can see where He is looking.

In order to look someone in the face…

you have to be confident

not filled with shame

I must continue to become free of shame in order to step into God’s presence with the confidence He extends to me.

Faces hold the senses. I want to see where He’s looking, I want to smell what He smells, I want to taste what He tastes, I want to hear what He hears, I want to sense what He feels.

So, I will seek His face.

Your face, Lord, will I seek.
