I thought I would give you a list of some of the most amazing things that I have seen in Cape Town over the first few days that my team has been here…

1- Hillsong- I know I wrote a blog about their church the other day, but really, not enough could be said about this body that strives to reach out and touch this entire city. We have gotten a chance to interact with them a couple times and both times the atmosphere has been absolutely electric and filled with the Holy Spirit.

2- Our contacts- We are working with an American couple by the name of Andy and Leigh Myers this month. They are 24 and 23 respectively and they have decided to move and serve in Cape Town for at least two years. They are doing ministry in some of the townships here and are partnered with an organization called Africa Jam. Leigh is currently raising their awesome daughter Norah, but still does a lot of relational ministry with the kids from the townships. Andy just took over as a worship leader at a church in one of the townships, and he just got done serving at Africa Jam’s camp last week. This couple is absolutely on fire for the Lord, and spending just one night with them will refuel your tanks and motivate you to get out and do more for the Lord. It is such an awesome privilege to serve along their sides and see how the Lord is moving in their lives. Don’t worry, there will definitely be more blogs about them in the future. This is just a sneak peek.

3- The kids- The kids here are amazing. I have only gotten a brief glimpse at the kids that we will be working with from the township, but the fight in their eyes is absolutely ridiculous. They see the situation they are in, and they won’t stand for it. They fight as hard as they can to liberate themselves and their family from some of the oppressive situations that they have been put in. Their fire for the Lord is amazing. I can’t wait to see these kids in a more intimate setting and get to know them more.

4- The accents- I literally could sit here and listen to a South African speak all day. I have always loved an Australian accent, but a South African accent is just as awesome. I lose focus on what these people are saying at times just because I’m too caught up in their accent.

5- The city itself- Seriously, you have to come to Cape Town. It is absolutely one of the most amazing places I have ever been. Their was a sunset the other day and I almost said it wasn’t fair how beautiful it was. Just google Cape Town and try to argue with me. If you google Cape Town sunsets, I’m sure that will blow you away.

One more thing that blows me away here is the spiritual climate, but I won’t right about that right now. I’ll save it for a later blog.
