I want to be as open as possible about everything having to do with this experience. Especially since other’s finances are involved. So since I’ve started to get a lot more proactive in my fundraising now that school is done and the “I have quite a while before all this is happening” feeling has faded away (and my teammate decided to post a FB comment saying that training camp is only 5 months out!!!) I figured that everyone that has and hopefully will partner with me and help send me out to the nations would like to know how that money is being spent and where it’s all going. It’s broken down like this:
The $16,285 total for the mission breaks down into the following:
- Medical Travel Insurance – $785
- Training Camp – $320
- Field Support – $620
- WR Development Program – $1,860
- Administration Fees – $2,635
- World Racer – $10,065
The World Racer Budget can be broken down further into estimates based off of past World Racer’s experiences.
Of the $10,065 World Racer Budget:
- Intercontinental Travel ~ $4,530 – 45%
- Transportation ~ $1,107 – 11%
- Food ~ $1,308 – 13%
- Lodging ~ $1,912 – 19%
- Long Distance Travel & Misc. Supplies ~ $1,208 – 12%

- Vaccinations and Medicine: ~ $700
- Gear (Backpack, tent, sleeping pad, sleeping bag, etc.)~ $8-900
