When we left the Dominican Republic and came here to Ecuador, we didn't realize how different our month was going to be this month compared to last month, but I can say that the Lord is stretching and growing us in ways we didn't expect but truly need.
We are in Quito, Ecuador this month. That's right….we came down from the mountains in the D.R. to a city! I can say that I truly love this city! It is so beautiful and really just unlike anything I've ever seen. We are still in the mountains though and it's quite cold here. We've been wearing pants, long sleeves, and coats every day. When I packed my raincoat I didn't really think I'd wear it, but I don't leave without it now as it rains every single day. But the Lord has given us His heart for this city and we are blessed to be able to do ministry here.
This month we are working alongside a church and school. Last month we did a lot of evangelism, this month is all about serving in whatever way is needed. We work with the school every day from 7:00 to 1:00. Both Jeremy and I have taught English classes and last week I was in with the 2nd grade class helping the teacher with whatever she needed. Then we go to our host family's house for lunch. In the afternoons we do a lot of maintenance and cleaning around the church and school. After that we have our team time and then head back to our host family's house for showers and dinner….and finally bed.
Our days are long here, but we can see God using us, even in the smallest of ways. We've been able to pray with people, hold little kids' hands, and really just be an encouragement to our host family. We've also been able to help with children's church, doing skits and songs, teaching them what the Bible says to be true.
God is teaching us to be faithful with the things He has set before us to do, even if it doesn't seem like much, because He uses even the smallest things to reveal Himself to His children. We are looking forward to our last 2 weeks here, anxious and excited to share Jesus' love with the people of Ecuador.
