Hello everyone again! We are beginning our last week in Busia, Kenya already… how time flies! We have had an amazing time and met some amazing people and have just enjoyed this place completely. The church arranged a trip for us down to Lake Victoria yesterday which was gorgeous! We showed up to a fishing club on the Kenyan shore at about noon and suddenly found ourselves helping pull in a giant fishing net with some local fishermen for the better part of an hour. I’ll try to get some pictures up at some point… if the internet will ever allow such heavy traffic! We also just got our next destination – Lira, Uganda. More to come on that once we arrive. First things first though and we will be seeing off our squad leader Jenny Brown in Jinja, Uganda in style: white water rafting the mouth of the Nile river! I’m very excited!!
As many of you likely know our teams got switched up at the end of Ireland and I got a whole new team full of wonderful people and we’ve had an amazing first month of ministry in Africa. Seriously the whole team is chocked full of rockstars! There is one issue we have though at the moment, but we know God will be taking care of it very soon. Currently one of my teammates is behind in her fundraising and the time has come where she must have a certain amount or go home, and that is not an option! This girl is one of the powerhouses of our squad and she just so happened to end up on my team. Her insight into people is unmatched and she almost always has an inspired word to share, even with people she only met two minutes ago. So, we cannot really function as a full force team if she has to go home at the end of the week and so we are desperately seeking some financial help for her. She needs to raise about $1800 this week and we know it’s going to come… we just don’t yet know who will provide it. So right now I’m asking if anyone can help Rachelle with financial support in any amount it would be greatly appreciated! I’m even asking the people who support me monthly to make out that check this month to Rachelle Uribe’s account as she needs the support more than I do at this point. We are now functioning as a well oiled team and we cannot let this one integral part be left behind just because of financial resources. We serve a God that is a provider and we’ve seen it happen in much tougher situations than this, and we know provision is on its way we just haven’t seen it yet. We only have a week and time is not on our side, but that is not even a factor for the creator of the universe! Please pray with us and ask if you are one of those who will help Rachelle stay out on the field. Africa hasn’t been and is never easy and we need all the momentum we can get; we are at a crossroads now and either Rachelle stays and we rock on to Uganda with full force, or we say goodbye to her at the border and try to restructure our team. So, know it is of the greatest importance that she stays and if you support what I am doing know that this is of equal importance!
Thanks again to everyone who has helped me along the way. Please consider helping one of my teammates get where she needs to be.
