This blog is about my dear friend KATY!
I’ve been on a team with Katy since May in Nepal. I knew from the beginning that we would be good friends, and I was waiting for the moment that we would be put on a team together. I remember on one of the first nights of training camp, I was in a tent with Katy and we were having a really deep conversation, and she just has so much wisdom. She shared encouraging scriptures with me and was so confident in her faith in God.
Katy has always had a heart for missions, and has a burden on her heart for people around the world who have not heard the gospel. She always wanted to be a missionary, and after seeeing her in action this month, it’s clear that she is gifted in evangelism and preaching the word of God.
The first time Katy got to preach and evangelize was on team Fly, and I’m so glad she got that opportunity, because she speaks the truth of God so beautifully. When we had to preach in Nepal, she was really nervous at first, but as we were going through Africa, preaching and evangelized several times a week, her gifting started to shine through. She speaks with such passion, and she really loves the Lord with all of her heart, and she wants to share that with everyone she meets.
In the beginning of this Race, Katy said she was shy and afraid to speak in front of groups, and that Katy is almost unrecognizable now! Katy has a wonderful sense of humor and loves to talk about the way God has worked in her life. She also LOVES to talk about her family, and she values her relationships with everyone in her family so much, and that is evident through the way she talks about them.
This year, Katy has taught me about what living out faith in God looks like. Katy never hesitates to praise the Lord for even the smallest victories, and she has helped me to remember to turn my focus back to God in everything.
Katy is truly a gem, and I love her so much, and I’m lucky to have her as a friend.
