So this is a song I wrote back in January after an inner healing. I have struggled with self-esteem issues for most of my life, and even though my relationship with Christ has redeemed a lot of that, it is something that still held me in bondage for the first month of the race.
However, when I had my inner healing, Psalms 56 and 57 were spoken over me, and these Psalms encouraged me so much, that even in the midst of the darkness, I always have a choice to choose God and carry the light, and this was such an empowering revelation.
Since Colombia, I have learned a lot and become more empowered in my authority given to me by Christ. I have learned that worship is our weapon to combat the darkness, and when I have felt heaviness of the enemy, that is when I turn to worship, and the powerful songs of praise keep the schemes of the enemy at bay, because where there is the light of Christ there cannot be darkness, and that is what this song is about.
Lyrics:
When I’m afraid I’ll trust in You
The enemy runs when he hears You
The deepest pit can’t hold me down
A well will spring up from the ground
Arise, shine Your light is here to stay
Awake Your glory, I’ll sing and give You praise
The darkness cannot dwell in here
Your perfect love casts out the fear
So I’ll stand before Your throne
And awaken the dawn
The strength of the Lord is in my soul
You’ve come here to make the broken whole
My heart is steadfast, oh my Lord
In You I’ll trust and praise the Word
Arise, shine Your light is here to stay
Awake Your glory, I’ll sing and give You praise
The darkness cannot dwell in here
Your perfect love casts out the fear
So I’ll stand before Your throne
And awaken the dawn
I will praise You on the mountains
I will sing among the nations
For Your mercy reaches the heavens
And Your truth unto the clouds
You’ve prepared the path before me
Now the enemy cannot hold me
Fill the whole Earth with Your glory
What can seperate us now
Arise, shine Your light is here to stay
Awake Your glory, I’ll sing and give You praise
The darkness cannot dwell in here
Your perfect love casts out the fear
So I’ll stand before Your throne
And awaken the dawn
