It started with a prayer, a dare to Jesus that He would grow and stretch me in areas and places I didn’t even know were possible to grow and stretch me in. Leading up to Training Camp, I had been in a good place with the Lord. But just good, not excellent. The enemy feeds us lies saying that the good is good enough. And I believed them, while suppressing the voices and fears and insecurities that soon became chains around my heart.
Training Camp was hard – physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We woke up before the sun most mornings and ate crickets and slept in different locations almost every night. BUT, the hard was worth the healing and the community-building and the intimate moments processing with Jesus. The hard was worth the freedom I experienced and worth the chains that were broken. The hard was worth the abundant life found in Jesus and the transition from good to excellent.
The Lord listens to His people when called upon. John 15:7 says “if you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you”. So through 10 days of sessions and worship and walking into new leadership positions, the Lord answered my dare and taught and grew me a whole lot. Although some of it was not fun, I feel freer than I ever have and a million times more excited to serve Jesus and to share His love for the next 11 months!!
