Before we arrived to Argentina, I was asked to lead a breakout session for the squad. I had never lead one before but knew that the holy spirit would surely give me something and that I have something to impart, so I said yes!
Then he reminded me that I was supposed to give a sermon during ministry but did not get the chance to…this was the time to give that sermon!
So here is what I spoke about at my breakout, which is about the soil of our heart.
~PRIMERO read Matthew 13:1-23, Mark 4:1-20, and Luke 8:4-15.
We’re reading about the parable of the different soils and when Jesus tells the disciples what it means.
He highlighted to me that we cannot bear the fruits of the spirit (galations 5:22-23) if we do not abide in the vine of Jesus (John 15:1-11). And the proper vine cannot GROW if we do not have good soil in our heart.
I thought the only soil that bears fruit is the good soil… but actually, Jesus says that the soil that produces thorns does bear fruit but it doesn’t mature. Which is important to note because if we do not have the mind of Christ we will not be able to discern between fruit that is mature and fruit that is not.
God is reminding me that I am rooted in good soil and that I am abiding in the vine and that he is bearing good fruit in me, as I resist temptation to act according to how I want to and instead act more like Jesus(see 1 Corinthians 13). I am becoming more aligned with the spirit day by day as I continue to read and understand more of his word. He is giving me new perspective and renewing my eyes and my heart, every single day…praise God!!!
Consider sitting with Holy Spirit and asking Him what soil you are rooted in. Really really ask…not what you think you should be rooted in but where you are at. A good indicator of your soil is looking at what fruits you are bearing. Are you bearing all of the fruits of the spirit (galations 5:22-23) or just some? Are you loving or patient or kind just when you what to be and making excuses for when not bearing those fruits is ok because the situation is frustrating?
Plant your roots deep in the Lord and let Jesus water them with his goodness.
Bendiciones! Amén!
