Hey Everyone! Jenny asked me to guest write a post for her blog, so I am going to divulge what having loved one embark on the World Race has been like for me.

Let me start out by saying that I do not like change at all. I usually avoid or dread big life changes because I fear the unknown challenges that will come with it.  That being said, when my close friend, Jenny, told me she was going to be leaving on an eleven-month long mission trip my selfish gut reaction was one of sadness at the thought of being so far from one of my best friends. However, once Jenny began to talk more about what the World Race was and how she felt called to this I could tell she had a passion and a peace about this decision that came from the Lord and I was filled with joy knowing she was following Gods plan for her life.

In months leading up to her trip I saw the Lord work in so many ways to help Jenny not only reach her monetary goals, but also grow spiritually and draw closer to Him. Getting to support and be there for Jenny has been such a blessing and has taught me what it means to be friend from half way around the world.

Though it has been hard to go about life without her here, I believe our friendship has grown even stronger through this process. This journey Jenny embarked on last year has transformed her in such glorious ways. She has exemplified patience, trust, and what it means to boldly follow the Lord and that has been such a positive force in my life. even from a great distance. Through the ups and downs of having a loved one one the World Race, God has taught me many lessons and one of them has been that I do not need to fear change because in every season of life, HE IS IN CONTROL!
