Hey Everyone! I have been getting a ton of questions so I thought I would write some of the most frequently asked here! Hope this answers so of your questions about this journey I am going on!!
1. What is The World Race?
The World Race Is an 11 month long mission trip to 11 different countries! The World Race is expanding overseas and in the States, yet its foundation stays the same. It is a journey to 11 countries in 11 months to serve “the least of these” while among real and raw community. It facilitates discipleship through the process of discovering the abundant life He promised. It births partnerships with ministries around the world. The Race calls you out of your comfort zone and gives you exposure to what God is doing in the world before you commit to the “American dream”. Because it’s not about you, it’s about the Kingdom.
2. Why did you choose the World Race?
I choose the World Race because it is so diverse in what kind of ministry you can do from month to month. I know I want to be in ministry but I am not sure what that ministry looks like. I am excited to do all the different ministry projects. Ministry will look super different month to month, even day to day…I seriously can’t wait to see what that looks like.
3. Where are you going?
Chile, Bolivia, Argentina/Paraguay, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Ethiopia, Uganda, Ethiopia, Thailand, Cambodia
4. What will you be doing?
Adventure in Missions has many different ministry partners all over the world. Ministry can look different month to month and even day to day! That is the exciting part about the World Race and this whole journey. “Expect the unexpected!” I can not wait to see how God is going to move in my life, ministry and my team! I want to go and serve people in a way I have never been able to before. I want to be the hands and feet of Jesus by showing this world who he is and how he can change their lives.
5. What about your Job?
Yes, I love my job and my co-workers; but I know that this trip is my next path in my life. I am thankful to work for a place that supports me and wants me to succeed. I am also thankful for all the support I have received from my Co-workers and my supervisors.
6. Are you going to be safe?
Adventures in Missions takes the safety of its racers very seriously. They are constantly assessing and modifying routes based on what is best for racers. I will be going to training camp in August and will learn more about the proper way to dress, act, and travel safely within each country. As well as I am preparing my body and heart for this journey by getting the proper vaccinations, strength training, and continually developing a deeper relationship with Jesus. Safety is a concern, however I am choosing to find peace and rest in the truth that God equips those HE calls and HE never leaves us. God has me in His palms I am safe wherever I go!
Nahum 1:7 The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; He knows who takes refuge in Him.
7. Why go overseas, why not stay in America?
I have done state side missions before and loved it. After high school graduation, I went into a mission program that ministered to Refuges from all over the world. I lived in Nashville, Tennessee and ministered to the Refuges. I lived in the same area and communities as them. Ministry was unique because I did life with these people, I lived in the same complex. So ministry could be me going over to a Family’s house and having dinner or teaching English, how to fill out job applications, also just doing life together. Anything that they needed help doing I got to show them who Jesus was just by doing life with them. I was the hands and feet of Jesus even if that meant just showing the family how to load a dish washer. So I know what Missions in America could look like. I want to see what long term international missions looks like. I have been on a couple short term international missions trip but they were just a taste of what long term international missions looks like.
8. What are you hoping to gain from this journey?
I am hoping to gain a deeper relationship with Jesus, and see Him in a new and fresh way. I want to experience Jesus in a way like I never have before, and see him work in lives like I never have. I want to get to know myself more as well, know who I am and who the Lord wants me to be! I already know that I am called to more than the normal “American Life”, I just don’t know what that looks like. I have known since I was a little girl I wanted to be a Missionary. Growing up I always told my parents that I wanted to go live in Africa in a hut and tell everyone I came across about Jesus!
9. What country are you most excited about?
Honestly, I have never been to any of the countries I am going to on the Race so for each country I am excited to see how God is going to move, work and minister in each of them. But, I have known since I was a little girl I wanted to be a Missionary. Growing up I always told my parents (and anyone for that matter); I wanted to go live in Africa in a hut and tell everyone I came across about Jesus! Now look I get to go spend 3 of the 11 months I will be gone on the continent of Africa in 3 different countries! So I am most excited to go see the beautiful country that God laid on my heart years ago as a child and see Him minister to my heart.
10. How can I help you in this journey?
There are 3 easy ways you can support me and God’s calling on my life:
Share my story– I know a lot of people, but together we can reach even more! I want people to know the amazing work that God is doing in my life and around the world and I need your help to make this possible. So please share my blog and ministry page with anyone who you think would be interested.
Financially– I have to raise $18,000 to cover the expense of all travel, lodging, and food. I also have to purchase backpacking gear, vaccines, and other personal costs associated with traveling for 11 months. By clicking on the donate button at the top of my page you will be able to join me on this year long journey- any amount is greatly appreciated and helps!
**You can become a monthly partner by setting up a safe and secure recurring donation that will auto-draft from your account until I am fully funded.
**You can give a one-time gift.
Prayer– You can pray for me, my team, and our ministry. I know this isn’t going to be easy. There are definitely going to be tough days where I will be exhausted, discouraged, and full of questions. However, knowing I have the prayers, support, and encouragement from all my supporters back home will be a huge comfort and blessing!
If you have any other questions please reach out! I am excited for this journey! Thank you for taking the time to read these questions and my answers!
I hope this answered some of your questions you have!
God Bless!
