We have been on the Camino now for about ten days. The Lord asked me to take some time off of social media and my phone. It was the best decision. Sorry for not updating till now but here is how the Camino has been in pictures.
Day 1 round 1: Starting to walk out of Burgos
Courtney had an allergic reaction to something so we stayed in Burgos and she slept on this bench for about four hours.
Day 1 round 2: Finally made it out of the city and now we are headed to Hornillos Del Camino
Day 2: walking to Castrojeriz
This is Castrojeriz from the top of town
Day 3: Leaving Castrojeriz there was a huge hill we had to conquer first thing in the morning.
But when we got to the top there was a Sunflower field. The Lord loves me!
Spirits are high, bodies are weak. Headed to Itero De La Vega.
Day 4: We sent Deb in a taxi from Itero De La Vega to Frómista where we were going to stay the night because they had a clinic there.
Court and I walked while Deb got checked out by the doctor. Thankfully one of our other teams from our squad was already in Frómista and they could help translate for Deb.
Day 7: after three nights in Frómista we sent Deb on a train to León because she was only getting worse with time off. Court and I walked on to meet her there. First stop Carrión De Los Condes.
As we approached Carrion we found out that we were 463 kilometers from Santiago!!
We stayed at an Albergue run by Nuns and went to mass to receive the pilgrims blessing.
After mass was pilgrims dinner (aka: potluck dinner)
Day 8: We walked through the desert for 17 kilometers without any towns or stops along the way. When we reached our first town we found the hay sheep.
BUEN CAMINO!!
Day 9: Slept in a sketchy albergue in Ledigos but awoke to this beautiful sunrise.
We walked through Sahagún and saw this fellow pilgrim.
Standing at the entrance to Sahagún as we were passing through.
Day 10: Our shortest day of walking only 18.65 kilometers to León where we will get to meet up with Deb again!
León is in sight. We thought we were really close from this point, little did we know we still had about an hour and thirty minutes of walking from here to our Albergue.
DEB!!! She is alive and well. Thriving on her crutches and living/helping at the hostel.
Team Twelve Eyes is back together again! But only for one day. 🙁 Deb will be staying here in León to continue healing and helping the Albergue. She will be here until the 17th where she will join us in Sarria to hopefully walk the last 100 km to Santiago with us.
As Team Twelve Eyes moves forward as only eight eyes please be praying for continued safety and for provision from the Lord. Also please be praying for more divine appointments and for the ability to keep bumping into the same people along the way. But Most of all, please pray for complete healing for Deb’s foot and leg so that she can join us for the last 100 km.
Thanks for all your LOVE and SUPPORT.
