Let’s compare the actual outreach ministry we partake in to Mountains. It is the gleaming giant we all see and praise. It stands high above everything else, calling attention from many distances. We all tend to look at ministry like that… the recognizable good deed we or someone else is doing.
Between those mountains are communities. Humble abodes, glowing with with warm lights, roaring fireplaces and friendly neighbors. That is where we the World Racers spend the majority of our time, in the moments between the mountains. What is it like to have 30-something sisters, sharing one giant room and 3 toilets? It’s GREAT! …as well as hard, strengthehing and growing. Embarrassment over bodily functions and insecurities were flushed the first week. If they still linger, their days are numbered. We are learning to love one another in all circumstance, with unconditional hearts.
I am an only child, and I admit, I like
my things
my way and in
my time. Flush that down the john too. Now I get the priveledge of learning to love girls like true sisters and guys like true brothers. It’s incredible! Talia came up to me today before church and said, “Jenny, I’m not going to lie. I just went through all your things to see if there was something I’d like to wear today.” Haha how fun is that?
How
good…
If there is a glimpse I could give you, it would be of these moments… Meagan and I sipping Café Lecheros, laughing oiver a joke she made 3 days before… Trying to take a World Race group photo while a mexican dog keeps wandering in front of the camera… The Laundromat lady holding up two pairs of underwear for all to see, asking Chris Telfer “¿Es tuyo? ¿Es tuyo?” haha.. He just turns red and grabs them from her hands while Meagan and I double over in laugther.
This is the heart of Christ… relationship. Come easy, come hard, sickness, wealth, poverty and annoyances, this is good.
