Well, that ‘someday again’ came sooner than I thought. This Costa Rican coffee isn’t too bad. The ladies at the church could make it stronger though.

We’ve quickly settled into life here in Costa Rica. The economy seems to get better the further South we travel. We’re staying at a church in Belen that holds a congregation of 20 women, 30+ children, and 2 men (one being the pastor). We’ve heard that the church used to be “rockin and on-fire” until the Pastor got sick a year ago and spent time in the hospital. After that, the church lost a lot of members and forward momentum. Eric ran into a 40-something man yesterday enthused about what we’re doing. He said he used to attend the church, but they didn’t do enough outreach. He’s ready to evangelize and increase the kingdom. I’m pretty sure he’ll be joining us this Monday 🙂

Okay, here’s the heart-wrencher. The first night of church we saw an old man sitting in the pew all by himself. He didn’t talk to anyone nor even smile. He just kind of sat there unnoticed. Chad immediately picked up on this and sat next to him. We found out this man’s name is Jose. He has lived his life completely alone since his family rejected him at the age of 18 for not sticking with the Catholic faith. He has never married, only worked hard his whole life to support himself.

Here is the video we just made…
