Yesterday my Grandma took my dad
and I out for Easter brunch. We went to this place that served an
incredible all-you-can-eat buffet. Admittedly, it was one of the first
times I truly felt sick to my stomach for the kids in India who have
nothing. I saw how much is available to us in America and felt true
sorrow – not the kind that produces anger or criticisms of American
society, but the kind that woke me up to the reality of the world.
I know that a starving-myself-because-they-have-nothing-crusade
would only serve to make myself hungry and wouldn’t change their
situation, but it does have me thinking. How can we who know the Truth
raise awareness to it in our society… specifically our Christian
society? I don’t think I can stomach another guilt-ridden :60 second
commercial for the starving kids in Africa; that doesn’t display the
Love of God anyway. But my question to myself and to you is: How can we
get hearts involved beyond the emotional, to an actual awakening of the
Spirit to the things of God?
