Hola– and welcome to month 2! Ministry for month 2 was originally on the island of Ometepe (you know one of the most beautiful places on earth with fresh water, zip lining with monkeys, beaches… you get the gist) so when I was told that we weren’t going there anymore, you can imagine my disappointment and I guess anger?

Why build my hopes up and get me so excited only to change them”

“Ok Lord, we just did construction for a month my body could use a beach- what the heckk!?!”

Well like I’ve mentioned before- don’t expect anything even when you’re told something. Sometimes things are simply out of our control and there is no point in allowing it to ruin your mood. The key word is trust. Trust in the fact that God, Adventures in Missions, friends and family whomever it is -has your best interest in mind and even in that moment you might not agree- you have an important choice. You can sit there..be upset and rant about it, fold your arms and pout or you can say okay.. I’m trusting that this “disappointment” will give me exactly what I need.. and cause it’s going to be awesome no matter what the situation is. It’s choosing to be content and joyful in ANY situation.

So this brings me to now. We are in the mountains of Nicaragua in a beautiful little town called Palacaguina.

The first week we have stayed with Pastor Juan Carlos- this is his first time hosting a World Race family. We’ve helped around his church by doing some manual labor, construction and helping the children at Sunday school. Unfortunately, he didn’t realize he has a pastor conference and that we’d have to find another place for the following week! Jaime- who’s familiar with the World Race and has had some teams stay with him already- opened up his place for us to stay until we move back to Pastor Juan Carlos for the final week. Lots of moving this month= time flying by muy rapido! (like my improvement in Spanish.. knew I got the Spanish award in 8th grade for a reason…lol).

My team and I are just taking it day by day and seeing what the Lord asks of us. Currently we are working in helping filing paper work, making brochures and getting organized for 516 Now Inc.- Smiling School Kids Program. 516 Now is a mission group that helps the needs of the people here in Palacaguina. This specific part of the program helps poor children obtain school uniforms, shoes, books, backpacks etc. through donations of $60 a year!

So when life throws you a curve ball…just go with it. It’s your CHOICE. You can determine what mood you want to be in it- and who knows you might even be thankful that that curve ball happened. I know I am. It’s truly been humbling experiencing the simple life. The New Yorker in me wants to go..go..go…but the Lords showing me things I’ve never thought of. BUT that’s for another time.. another blog.

Love you all!
