"Among the commotion there is a quiet."
There are over two hundred bars in Patong, Thailand. At night they close off the streets to vehicles and they fill up with people, as you walk your basically shoulder to shoulder.Your senses are heightened, flashing neon signs and lights glow everywhere. The sound of voices and music from every bar fight for attention. As I walk down the busy street young families pass by blindly to what is going on around them. They act as if they are in Disney World except instead of getting photos taken with Snow White or Goofy they get pictures taken with lady boys and in the bars behind them girls pole dance and are bought for a price.
"The world has become blind!"
We stop walking to pray before we enter the bars.
" God we ask for your protection over ourselves and everyone around us. We lift up the broken hearts and we ask you to restore them and to continue to give them hope. Guide our feet Lord and be our words tonight as we go in your name. Shine your light in this dark place. Amen"
We walk down a long chain of bars and finally find a couple open seats. At each bar there are at least 5 girls pole dancing while men and woman look at them with lust in their eyes. Our order of drinks for the night are Coke and Sprite and we end up playing connect four, Janga and Nails with the girls behind the bar. 2 hours fly by and for that short amount of time we were able to start building relationships and showing them love they rarely or many never receive.
Sitting among the commotion there is a quiet, a quiet that is rarely noticed. It is found when you look into the eyes of the women.Their spirits have been muted and their worth has been labeled with a price. The world has become blind to this sense of quiet!
"We need to give the world back its sight through the power of prayer in Jesus Christ name."
