Freedom

This week has been one I will never forget. We arrived in Mae Sot on Sunday and every day since I have had a glimpse of what true freedom looks like.

Famous Rays
They are a burger restaurant that has opened up in the Buddhist and Muslim community here. They employ Burmese refugees and the profit made from the business will support a children’s home here. Probably that best community I have ever met and have been blessed to be a part if this week. This week I caught a glimpse of what living a life full of freedom looks like. The missionaries that work with famous rays are living a lifestyle that pays no money, requires them to be on call  24/7 and guarantees no future sustainability when it comes to a house, retirement and future benefits. But none of that matters to them why ? Because they are FREE ! And the benefits of freedom are far greater than any job security, financial plans, owership of materials and the cultural norms.

New Jerusalem
New Jerusalem is a children’s home that has been started a few months ago by a man named Joshua from Burma. The children range from ages 3 to 20 and every single one of them have an amazing story. The home is run on complete faith that every month God will provide the money for the bills the rice and vegetables that make up every meal and  the spiritual and physical strength to get through everyday. Everyone takes care of everyone there no matter how old or young. No one eats until they are sure everyone has some food and whatever they receive, their first reaction is to share. The one word I can only think of to explain how these people can go about there days still so full of joy and happiness is FREEDOM ! Because where the spirit of The Lord is, there is freedom. 2 Corinthians 3:17

This week I have seen what it truly means to be set free and to walk in freedom. He came to set the captives free and that means freedom from whatever has you captive. It could be money, worry, media, an affair, lies, and even  your own thoughts.
This month I have been able to see that you are  truly not free until you can break through the walls that the world has put up around you. The Walls that tell you how you should be living and labels that will discourage you from making changes in your life and the lives of others.
This is a little glimpse of some of the things that take place behind the scenes while on the Race.

This is what they call the monster challenge. It’s a burger with 3 patties an egg 6 strips of bacon and cheese. Pickled fries and a large vanilla milkshake.  After finishing it and completing it in 5 minutes and setting a new record I could only justify it one way. … It’s going to a good cause 🙂 it was not the most attractive moment of my life.
