My family consists of my mom, dad, 2 older brothers, a sister-in-law, and a nephew who will be here this week. I couldn’t be more excited to be an aunt!!! They’re all great though, different in their own way. We’ve been close all my life with my parents emphasizing the importance of family. They raised us kids to love everyone, to be good people, and to cherish family, however, we weren’t raised in the church. God didn’t get my attention until I came to college when He gave my life a complete 180 and helped me walk in the opposite direction towards him. The last 3ish years of my life have been the craziest but the BEST years of my life. I yearn to experience more of His love and give that to others, to worship Him with my life, to grow to know Him more, and simply let Him lead me to follow his will. I want more of Him than ever before!!!
Anyway, while in Nicaragua He began to call me to this trip. I was super excited then became scaaaarrrreeed. “What would my parents think and how would they react? Oh no, this won’t be ok. It’s interrupting my college path, and as a 21 year old senior at Purdue about to finish a degree you don’t just up and leave to go across the world for a few months, especially when everything is set and ready to go including an apartment lease.” As those thoughts came to mind, I started to turn from the calling trying to tell myself it was just a silly idea that I made up. Fast forward a couple months and well…I’m signed up for the trip and soon going to spend a few days at training camp with the rest of my team. God is so much more than an apartment lease or a semester in school..the lives we will bring hope to is so much more than life here in West Lafayette for a semester of classes. He has called me to this trip, and I want to do nothing less than to please him and obey by dropping MY plans to hold on to his…I mean come on..He’s a perfect God which means a perfect plan and perfect love. Nothing better than that!!! <3
