WHAT:
I will provide support through construction ( building houses/ schools/orphanages, etc ), sharing health education with women that have been recovered from sex slavery and human trafficking, as well as caring for children in orphanages. The role of my support will change based on the culture and need of the people. Many of the places that I will provide support/aid to will be severely impoverished.
WHERE:
Philippines – Malaysia – Thailand
Cambodia – Uganda – Rwanda
South Sudan – Ukraine – Romania
India
WHEN: SEPTEMBER! 🙂 I will be packing all of my things in a 65L hiking backpack and traveling from country to country for 11 months total. I will live a very modest lifestyle and carry my home in my pack – my hammock, sleeping pad, and tent. I am set to return in August of 2014.
WHO: ME! Jenny Gage! 🙂 and a team of about 50 other passionate adults between the ages of 21-35 from all over the country. I am part of the "V" Squad that will be comprised of smaller teams of 7-12 "World Racers" like myself.
WHY: I love people. I am hungry to learn more about the world, and gain a global perspective on different cultures. I want to make a difference in the lives of generations to come, by improving the quality of life to those less fortunate than I. I am longing to capture a deeper understanding of the Bible, the Lord, and who I am in his light.
HOW: The craziest part- by full committed dependence on the Lord. I thought this whole "World Race" was all impossible, but time and time again God is proving me wrong with his never ending support. Each and every day, the generosity of others continues to flow into my life, and I am overwhelmed with awe. By letting go, and letting God I have seen so many things come to fruition that I didn't think ever would. It is quite life changing, to say the least.
