When we met Anu, she was lying in a bed, immobile.
She had fallen from the second story of her home seven months before and was paralyzed from the middle of her abdomen to the bottom of her toes.
Her legs and feet were cold, and her face was without a smile.
A once model, Anu and her husband Lal were called to be missionaries.
But, then she had her fall.
Now, all Anu could do was lie in bed all day, and Lal had to stay by her side most of the day to take care of her.
Well, since we believe that our God is a God of healing, a God that can move the mountains, heal the sick, and raise the dead, we prayed for Anu. We prayed that God would restore this woman to full health.
And after praying, God showed up in a BIG way! Anu, who had never had any feeling from her abdomen down, was regaining feeling in her legs. She was also moving her feet little by little. We sat her up and also tried standing her up. She was still lacking the strength to do this on her own, but we believed full healing was coming. God WAS healing her.
In the pit of my stomach, I KNEW that by her birthday and wedding anniversary, May 18th, she would be up walking and dancing.
Several days later, we decided to pay Anu and Lal another visit. Upon entering her room though, I saw no one in the bed. WHERE WAS SHE??
Then, I looked ahead of me and saw her sitting against the wall. She had a supportive harness on her waist.
We sat and talked with her and Lal. Lal said there had been more improvements since we had last come. She was eating more and was MUCH happier. It was as if a burden had been lifted from her shoulders. The craziest thing was that in her sleep, her legs were moving around all by themselves as if she was running. It is like God was doing the physical therapy as she rested! Oh, and as we sat and talked, she moved her legs to sit Indian style. I know some 30 year olds that have trouble sitting like that! Another really cool part of this meeting was when Sandy took out some bright pink fingernail polish and painted Anu’s toenails. Anu looked so happy!
A couple days later, we visited again, and after praying, Anu received feeling in her abdominal area for the first time in 7 months. She felt as if someone touched her side.
That same day, Anu’s sister brought us up to their roof. While we were up there, Lal picked up a little owl from a nest that was attached the roof. He told me to take a picture. Well, as soon as I went to take a picture, the owl darted out of his hands and flew straight into a brick building about 50 feet away. Then, it fell straight to the ground, as if dead. It was like a movie! I thought FOR SURE it was dead or paralyzed! It was not moving at all. I didn’t know if I should laugh or cry.
JD went down to check on it, and after almost stepping on it, he picked it up. The little guy was okay!! I thought FOR SURE it was dead, but it was not. It was very much alive!
This little owl was like Anu. She fell from a building, and the doctors thought was was paralyzed, either for good or for a long amount of time. BUT, she is no longer paralyzed!!! She is regaining movement and strength and flexibility, and WE BELIEVE, one day soon, she will fly!!
