So, a little over 24 hours ago I had no idea that I would have spent my last day with one of my best friends from Australia! Well, he’s from New Zealand, not Australia (a very important fact for New Zealanders or “Kiwis”, for the layman!), but I knew him when I lived in Australia for three years working in YWAM. We actually staffed a school together and led an outreach team through the Australian outback in 2005. I hadn’t seen him for a year (oh yeah, his name is Buddy!), so this was an awesome surprise. I happened to be skyping my mom at the time when Buddy jumped online to ask how long I would be in Bangkok. Then he said the best part…that he had an overnight layover and wanted to hang out!

For as much Bangkok as you can cram into less than 24 hours, I’m pretty sure he saw the best parts! He is such a good guy that he even went with me to check on some of my girls at the bars. It’s so refreshing to know men of God who are so above reproach that they can handle stuff like that. Plus, it was good for the girls to meet a good man who wanted and expected nothing from them but a conversation. It was fun!

We had a good time, and catching up was in need. We went to one of those restaurants where they let you cook your own food….unless you are two white people who just point to a bunch of stuff on the menu, then when they bring it out uncooked to your table, you stare at it like it’s a science project. In that case, the cute waitress who has been politely standing by to gawk at the awkward white people, finally sees that you are both completely helpless and cooks the food for you! Cheap but good food, priceless conversation, great time.

I love how doing work for the Lord means I will get to meet and connect with awesome people all around the world, and whenever the Lord lets us cross paths, I’ll always have my friends. Thanks God…Buddy was a fun and unexpected surprise!
