Father, I repent!
And my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14
One of the most bonding and moving times of worship we had during our ATL (Ask the Lord) weeks was a time that occurred after hearing the song I Repent by Derek Webb. We had come together for worship and prayer before we began our day asking what God wanted from us for that day. Our prayer that day was for repentance. We asked for forgiveness, not because we had some horrible unspoken sins, but because we all have plenty of the ones that are “small, indistinct, and more easily hidden”. As our team cried out to God we became more and more burdened for our families, the worldwide church, and our nation. We as a family asked for our fathers, mothers, brothers, and sisters. We asked for salvation for our friends and family at home that don’t know God as Father. We were able to come to a place where it wasn’t a room full of 8 capable people independently handling our business but; 8 heart-broken children who crawled up in the lap of our Father and poured out our hearts. When our hearts had poured out what we had to bring He answered with His healing salve. He answered by saying He was proud of us, His beloved children. He was captured by our radiance and beauty, our love for Him, and our love for one another. We walked out of that room after our time together looking more like a family and more like our Dad. Yes, Lord let it be so. Do what you have to in us so that you can do what you want through us!
