This past Tuesday, we were given the opportunity to speak at
a high school. We awkwardly met the headmaster…which is somehow always awkward
here in Uganda…and then walked into a classroom with 70 or so students. I
opened up the morning with a short message about David in his youth and how God
sees more potential in them than they or anyone else can imagine. Then we
passed out paper to all of the students and asked them to write anonymous
questions…about life, death, God, the Bible, Jesus, us…anything.
Afterwards
they folded up their slips of paper and tossed them to the front for us to
read. As soon as all the paper had been thrown in, we began to open questions
and answer them. The first one we opened asked this: If a person dies, where
does their soul go if they haven’t been praising God? This fell under Taylor’s
territory, so he explained the answer biblically and moved onto the next one:
When you reach the age of marriage, what do you do? The team pointed to me and
said, “You’re old, you’ll know this one!” So I took it and had so much fun
trying to figure out an answer that was appropriate.
We were off to an amazing start and their questions seemed
legitimate. We got to about 10 slips of paper before we ran out of time. But I
wanted to share with all of you the questions that were posed to us. I was
impressed by so many of them. Our team’s hope is to answer them all and take
all of the answers back to the school if we don’t have the opportunity to talk
to them again. If you read one that you’d like to give some input to, please
