I wasn’t sure what to expect from Thanksgiving in another
country. With this holiday being my most favorite, there was a major part of me
that was dreading it…thinking that I’d be yearning to go home and be with my
family and friends. But God showed up in HUGE ways and blew this Thanksgiving
out of the water!
It all started with a simple prayer. With a budget of about
$5 a day, our options without God moving included rice…and more rice. So as a
team, we began to pray that God would somehow provide a Thanksgiving meal or
the money to pay for a team dinner. On the day before Thanksgiving, I was still
pretty confident that it would be provided, although I had no idea how God
would pull it off.
As most of you know from training camp, God has a funny way
of showing off His power to our team.
On our way to the bars for ministry that night, 4 of my
teammates were in the taxi. They began a conversation with 2 German guys. The
guys asked about our trip and as the girls explained the World Race, the budget
and came up. They mentioned how much our budget is limited and the guys asked
if they could give us some money…maybe just for a nice dinner. The girls
definitely didn’t oppose and as the guys pulled out the wallets, they expected
a small donation.
The guy pulled out a Thousand Bought ($33 USD)
And another thousand
And another
And handed it to our girls and told them to treat themselves
to a nice dinner. We were given $100 USD for an amazing Thanksgiving feast!! My
God is definitely faithful to provide…and provide BIG!
