Ministry this month has been fairly laid back. We’ve spent the majority
of the time meeting locals and helping out with the church’s vision for
the surrounding areas. We ended up clearing out a field of trees, trash
and rocks to make a ping pong/basketball area.

I’ve grown
accustomed to just doing what they’re asking us to do. We’re here to
serve them and further their ministry in reaching out to those who don’t
know of Christ’s love. It’s not always the dirtiest or ugliest work,
but it most definitely makes a difference in the world of those who live
here.

So when a fence suddenly blocked off the road to church, I
didn’t really understand the impact it would have on this community. It
turns out that from this direction, the road is the only way to climb
the hill to go to the church. Because a fence is now standing, nobody
can really reach the church…

This means that all things church
related can no longer happen until we find a way around the fence. So
the pastor pulled out blueprints of the surrounding mountains and hills
and began planning for a road.

We began clearing out an area
about 10 feet across by 200 meters up a mountain. It’s so steep that if
you slip at all, you’re likely to slip all the way down the mountain.
With machetes, shovels and pointy sticks, we worked our way up the
mountain. Hopefully within the next few days before we leave; we’ll
finish the path down the mountain and carve steps in the earth to make
it easier to climb.

God has shown me that regardless of what
you’re doing, it matters to Him and it matters to those around you.
Without this road, hundreds of people are unable to hear God’s word.
With it, people will hear His word and hopefully hear Him. It’s been a
testament to this village that the pastor hasn’t let this ruin his
plans.

It just goes to show that Satan will put up fences in your
life. We all have the option to keep looking at Christ, push through
and find a way around, or turn around and give up. If we give up what
God’s put on our hearts then our testimonies are compromised. But when
we fight for His plans and purposes, His glory is revealed and people
see Him

Build around your obstacles…don’t give Satan a foothold where God’s told you to walk.
