It was about a week into being in Africa and I had no idea why I was placed in this area. I knew working with kids in our ministry field would be fun because I have working with kids my whole life. The thing is, that anyone can work with kids. Then the question started coming into my head like why me? Anyone could do this, what am I going to bring to this group that no one else can bring?

Then I saw people playing soccer everywhere I looked. One day coming home from our ministry work, the kids in our apartment courtyard were playing soccer. I knew I needed to be out there. I knew playing with the kids would make my heart so happy. Let me tell you, it was 100% what I needed. God showed me that I was wanted in that game. Ever since that day we get notes at our door from the kids in the area. They would leave one saying the time and the day they want to play soccer.

The last couple days they have asked the whole house of ladies that I live with to come out and play with us. It was so heart warming to see my team out there playing soccer or hanging out with the little girls. The relationship we have built with the kids is something they won’t forget. Now I know if I never went out there to play soccer, my whole team would have never gotten to know the people around our apartment. Now when we all go to play soccer, the moms, sisters, and brothers all come out and watch us play with the kids. Its funny, a lot of the time they record us on their phones. Before we leave for the next place, my team and I are going to go and show them a Jesus film. It will be a great way to end the fun adventure we had here.
