Step off the plane and for the first time in 5 months we weren’t in a tropical environment.
We stayed on the olympic mountain outside of Sarajevo where the 1984 Olympics were held, even in summer we were all freezing being fresh out of Southeast Asian heat.
One night to rest then off to figure out what the Lord had in store for us in our ATL (Ask the Lord) month of Bosnia. Second ATL for me but the first for my new teammates.
BTW slight team change SPK is now…
Coleman left and Logan came to our team. Logan is a jokester as far as bonding goes and easily a brother figure in my life. But what really got me is while he bonds by joking around with you he cares about the serious details and without a doubt I know he would show up when I need him to! He is a man after God’s heart and isn’t scared to push his own thinking to learn more about God’s character and the man he wants to be to glorify God.
Anyway ATL…Showing up with no plans, no host and asking the Lord for each step you take is thrilling in the least and mind-blowing always. Thrilling to say the least 🙂
We ran into Turik in a Catholic church, who put us in contact with a pastor from an evangelical Protestant church in Tuzla. With plans to pack up and leave the next morning Turik attempted to show us the beauty that is called Sarajevo.
We left for Tuzla and sat down for a meeting with the church Turik had introduced us to. Just like that God and his master orchestration: we found a place to serve and stay with a church in Tuzla.
We got to become part of their church family for the month
Seriously pushing into what we can do for the city
Hanging out with kids at a special needs Prom
Throwing some fun church cafe parties
Playing Dominos/ Chess, Picking Weeds, and making small talk at the Elderly Home
English and Math Clubs
And showing the love of Jesus at Refugee Camps
P.S. Going into Africa (Zambia) today, I know I am two countries behind (Kosova and Romania) in blogs, bear with me! Love you all.
TTFN,
Jenny
