There are ants everywhere. If you look at the wall around the room you would see what look likes cracked/chipped lines. But upon closer inspection, it’s a really long train of ants. They get in our clothes, thus the ants in my pant and trying to get em out while at the market. (That was interesting.) They get in our food. Can’t leave a plate out for more than 10 minutes or else you’ll be eating ants for lunch too. They get in our fridge, our precious jar of peanut butter (which is no more) and any sealed packages. We only have one safe place- the freezer. So that’s where we store most of our personal snacks and food that can’t easily be washed. Potato chips actually taste really good frozen. 🙂

Life continues on though. We start our day at 5:30. Leading devotions for the kids here at Hope. Then we help them clean and send them off to school. Prayer walk, breakfast and village visits take up the rest of the morning. Afternoons are spent with the kids and/or getting our English lesson ready for which ever class we’re assign to that night. We teach English four nights a week and there are 5 different classes. In one class we come up with something to talk about with them so that they learn to have conversations. This gives them the chance to practice their English. One night I decided to talk about Camp Barakel. It was so fun because I got to share with them that Camp exists to proclaim the gospel and talk about some of the activity. They had never heard of hockey or the blob. So we were able to talk about that.

When we are in the villages we love on the kids. We play with them, hug them, tickle them and just be someone they can relax and smile with. We also do a devotion with them. These kids are always so full of joy and laughter.

We also had the opportunity to preach/share at church on Saturday and Sunday night. This is when most of the youth, high schoolers and young adults come. I spoke on Saturday night about waiting on God. I shared my story about my hearing aids and how hard it is sometimes to wait. But God has shown me through personal experiences in the past the pain and hurt of not waiting causes. My choice to wait or to not wait/give up affects me and those around me. And I don’t want that affect to be hurtful. And if I give up, I’m giving up on God. That’s not an option for me. He’s all I got. So I choose to wait.

One of my teammates spoke on Sunday night about having friendship with God. Of getting to know God by hanging out with Him and learning about Him.

God has continued to teach me much. I’m still processing it all.

One thing God showed me is that He is working on my heart little by little. I’ve been getting so discouraged lately because my heart attitude is either great and at peace or selfish and unwilling. In the selfishness and unwillingness I start to think what’s wrong with me?! Why can’t I ever get anything right? When God shows me the root of the problem and helps me fix it I’m at peace and happy. But then there’s always something else. I’ve been going between these two all month. But as I was reading Deuteronomy 7 a verse struck out to me.

Verse 22- “The Lord your God will clear these nations before you little by little. You may not make an end to them at once, lest the wild beast beasts grow to numerous for you.”

God is working on my heart little by little. He is showing me all of my sinful habits and attitude little by little. If He did it all at once I wouldn’t be able to overcome them. I’m already overwhelmed with processing and changing one thing at a time. Having to do it all at once would burn me out for good. It takes time.

There’s nothing “wrong” with me. I don’t need to be discouraged when I see something in my heart that isn’t “good.” God is just working on me little by little. And He is working on you too, little by little.

For the next month or two I will need to have a password on this blog for safety reasons.

The password will be jenniferboeve All lower cap and no space.
