I am more than sure that this is by far the coolest thing I have ever seen with my own two eyes!!!!!! At first I did not want to go because the amount of strenuous hiking involved, but I really wanted to see the volcano. So, I went for it! I AM SOOOO GLAD I DID!

We hiked up the Pacaya Volcano, which was a 2 hour hike altogether. The mountainside was a straight up incline. As I began walking, I knew I would be in trouble, for it was very difficult even for our young 23.4.5 year olds. Luckily, the locals are very familiar with this scenario, and follows behind with saddled horses hollering “Taxi, do you want a taxi?” Another WRer (Kari) and I definitely took advantage of being ripped off financially, and split the cost and the ride to the middle point of our hike.

As we climbed the actual volcano rocky parts, you could literally see the lava below us and feel the exteme heat from it. They told us to wear long pants b/c WHY?

Please note the background of this (upper) picture! It was stinkin amazing!

This is half way there… Do I look tired? The Lord really blessed me with Supernatural energy and strong knees to endure the climb both up and down. Thank you Jesus for being so good to me!

No, I’m not photo shopped in here.

Within spitting distance!

Ok, this is a little too close!

World Racer, Annie Bower, roasting marshmallows. It took about 3 seconds to roast. umm umm good!

A picture from the top of the volcano. The sun was going down by this time. WHAT AN AMAZING VIEW! BREATHTAKING!!!! Being we were at the top of the volcano when the sun started going down, I began to pray for extended amounts of sunlight, so we could at least get to down the lava rocks safely. God answered that prayer!

The end view at the bottom of the Volcano, but not the mountain. We then proceeded to hike down the mountain in the dark. I was the first one down. Who says you can do adventure just b/c you’re older!!
