On December 31st, I set out to travel the world spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ.
I had no plan B.
I considered what I thought to be all my default options, and nothing seemed that it would stop my mission and calling. However, on February 23rd, this proved to be a very wrong judgment. The death of Jerry, my son’s father, put a tailspin on life. Within two hours of hearing this, I was US bound with no idea what the future held. I did know who held the future though. Matthew 7:24-25 says, “
Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock” My foundation is on The Rock!
With shattered dreams, I placed my life and future in the palms of Father God. I cried out to Him like never before; as a result, He has cried back to me with answers and promises. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the thoughts and plans I have for you, Jennifer, plans to prosper you and not to harm you.”
Seth Barnes, director of Adventures of Missions, has poured a reality into my life without knowing just how true it would be, nor did I. He says that there are essentially six stages broken down into two halves of being called: 1ST half –

Abandonment (leaving the World Race behind, only after already leaving everything in my life behind) “
And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life”Mt 19:29 Let me clarify that leaving the World Race was not a sacrifice but a privilege. My son is worth that and much more!
2.
Brokenness {to the point of numbness} (Jerry’s death, and refer back to step 1)
3.
Dependency on God (Again, I sold everything I owned and at this point, I have literally nothing but the clothes on my back).
The 2ND half is empowerment and the call itself…
I am reading a book right now that pertains to these particular circumstances in my life. I highly suggest that EVERY Christian read this book! “Secrets of the Secret Place” by Bob Sorge is one of the best books I have ever read! It has helped me in continuing to build my house upon The Rock as Mt 7 describes.
In just three weeks, I have cried out to God for the death of my husband, my son, guardianship concerning my son, car, home, job, church, finances, relationships, clothes, food, and even the weather (let’s get honest, I do not like cold!).
Here is an excerpt from Secrets of The Secret Place:
God-worshipers are those who come to God first in their time of need.
They seek God’s face and wait on Him to receive directives for the
course to take. The secret place becomes the threshold where we wait
upon God, seeking His powerful intervention and crying out to Him for
wisdom and revelation. Occasionally, the Spirit will say to you, “
In this
instance, I want you to wait on Me only and stand in faith until I intervene
sovereignly in you situation…” Here we find the stuff of miracles…
This is exactly what I did. I waited patiently, while on my face, for God. I was in constant prayer, crying out for more. I have learned that when there is trial, there is a HUGE blessing coming if we just simply put our trust and faith in God.
Genesis 50:19-20 says, “
But Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid. Am I in the place of God? You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” What the enemy meant for evil, God has turned around for HIS glory!
The End Result:
I am safe in Kentucky
I have a wonderful relationship with my son
I have visited a church that welcomed me with open arms
I have a place to live overlooking a beautiful lake
I have a new car with full coverage
I have plenty of clothes and food
I have a great relationship with my sister-n-law, Sharlette
I have a GREAT job – Administrative Assistant Credentialing Secretary (I feel a prophecy coming on) at the Headquarters District Office of Assembly of God in Kentucky (hahaha devil)
I am still going to Thailand (Thanks Seth and all of my supporters)
AND last but certainly not least, I have faith that can and will move mountains!
