On the way to meet my friends, I drove past an Assembly of God church. This is what I attended for more than 2 years in Gainesville prior to leaving for The World Race. I just chuckled at God, because it was directly across the street from my son’s church.

As we sat in Cracker Barrel, we had three phone books open. We called literally every number in the yellow pages looking for an apartment. I needed a place to live, and I need it today.

Nothing was coming through with our numerous calls. Getting a little discouraged, we decided to look into calling an Assembly of God church in Crestwood (where my son lives). Lo and behold, there was a camp there. We explained the situation to the gentlemen on the phone, but it seemed as if was another dead end.

Leaving Cracker Barrel, we went to look at an apartment that could potentially be ready in a week. While there, we received a phone call. It was the Assemblies of God DISTRICT OFFICE! Evidently, they had called my church, First Assembly of God, in Gainesville and spoke with Mrs Betty. I’m not sure what she said, but the results provided an
immediate place to stay at no charge for 4 months (until June). This is more than the obvious blessing. It is so soon to have to sign a lease binding me into a contract without flexibility. Now I can relax and take my time in finding an appropriate place.

We drove to see the place and meet Stan Holder from the Kentucky District Council. He was an absolute sweetheart! When we walked through the opening door, Stan said, “Are you Jennifer?” “Yes,” I said. It was a warm welcoming. I met a couple of other women as well. The secretary, Debbie, called her husband right away; he is pastor. She wanted him to put a word out for furniture and house-hold supplies. See, I sold everything I owned for the mission trip.

The cabin that I will be staying in is a little small, but very doable. It has 2 rooms, a bathroom, a small refrigerator, and a micro wave oven. Stan said that I could bring what ever I needed to in it to make my self at home.

I believe that God is Sovereign, and everything will be ok. It is still very scary right now, but I have great peace. I still need prayer for continued peace and wisdom.

I leave you with these two Scriptures:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” Jeremiah 29:11

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight” Proverbs 3:5,6
