Life on the race goes by VERY fast!

I have finished my first month in Serbia and have begun life in Romania. Life in Serbia was wonderful!  The work we did was mostly connecting to locals and building relationships with them by spending time with them and listening to their stories. The people of Serbia were open and in need of someone to hear what they had to say. I loved getting to know these new friends. We organized events like an English club and an evening in the park where we played games and shared our lives with the people of Sombor. We even threw a Mexican themed party! It was strange that our host asked us to have a Mexican party because none of us really knew too much about Mexico or their culture being that we’re all American. My teammates and I made salsa, a piñata, and the party was a huge success. Our time in the little town of Sombor was filled with new friendships and card games like Uno and a new game called Jungle Speed.

After leaving our host location we traveled to Belgrade for debrief and to process our month. I LOVED Belgrade! I learned so much and enjoyed spending time with my teammates. We explored the city, ate too much food, and laughed a lot.

The most special moment from debrief was going to an English church service. My teammate Emily met a man on the train and he invited her to the Sunday service at the church he attended. I tagged along for the journey and was overwhelmed with blessings of the most welcoming and kind people. We were greeted with smiles and a hug from what I felt like was everyone at the church. I was so amazed how gracious this mixture of English speaking people from around the world was with their love. We left with a hug from the pastor and an invitation to live with him when we are done our journey with the World Race.

After a long day of travel I am now in Romania living with all 44 members of my team/leaders this month. I will be working with my small group of six teammates during the day. We aren’t to sure what this work will look like, we do know that our host has a lot of visions and projects to build up his church. I look forward to more moments of love and to meet more amazing people!

Thank you for all those who have supported me in! I am so grateful for this opportunity to share love with the world.

Much love,

Jen
