always.

It is so easy to find a reason to complain about something. Life can be challenging. Sorrow does arise. Pain, hurt, discomfort will occur. And it is easy to dwell in it. But isn’t GOD still present? Isn’t HE the same GOD who walks with us through the good times?   Isn’t HE the same GOD who loves us so much as to provide, even though we don’t deserve it?

It has been on the average of 115 degrees here in Cambodia, which makes it around 90 degrees in our house with maybe one or two fans in each room. We have discovered that cold showers feel great and how incredible it is to take a cold shower and then immediately stand infront of one of the fans. Those brief feelings of cool air are few and far between. Add to that a high amount of humidity, and you find that sweat and stickiness is just a 24 hour feeling.

But through this, GOD revealed HIS glory and love.

The rain fell, and washed out the streets into a playground of puddles for us. The rain cooled us. The rain covered us. HE called us out with each drop and said, “I love you this much.” The rain filled the earth and watered the plants. It seeped into every area and space. It refreshed even the driest part of the land.

In the evenings, GOD created a beautiful display of HIS power as the heat created lightning storms. One after another, the lighting filled the sky and with each strike, HE said, “I love you this much.”   The lightning continued for hours and HIS glory was felt as we appreciated and praised HIM.

Even as I found myself ill this week, GOD surrounded me with a comforting, loving, and compassionate family to care for me. Not to mention that a doctor from the local church came by to examine me free of charge and prayed over me before leaving. How could I not give HIM praise for all of that?

How could I keep any praise from HIM? For HE is GOD. It is HIM who displays HIS glory in rain, in lightning storms, in laughter, in conversations that build deeper relationships. It is HIM who teaches through the brokenness. It is HIM who loves more than we can ever comprehend. And nothing can separate us from HIS love.

So I strive to shout for JOY…always!

Psalm 33:3
Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy.
