It isn’t every day that one can go back in time and celebrate a past birthday three months later. But what can I say besides GOD is great! He provided me with a loving family here to take the time to celebrate my birthday with me since my birthday is actually in December and does not occur while on the race.

So what does team spectacle do? They randomly chose a month and day in which to celebrate. And it was a day full of wonderful surprises, not to mention I turned 29 once again.

The group of us made our way to the Blue Pumpkin internet café early in the morning where I started the celebration talking to my beautiful sis who made me laugh, Grace who told me some great stories, Tyler saying – “Love you”, and getting to see Amos and talking to him for a moment. Skype is wonderful! I spent the rest of the day relaxing and walking around Siem Reap.

For those of you who know me, you understand that food is definitely part of the celebration as well. So let me run down the list of amazing culinary delights that were enjoyed. I had 2 banana shakes, 1 mango shake, 2 spicy chicken sandwiches in pita bread, 1 peanut cookie, 1 tiramisu, ice cream, 1 package of can-can cookies (memories from an eventful weekend), 1 box of hot tamales, and more ice cream. A box of angel food cake mix was purchased by my team as well, but we do not have an oven, so I am just holding onto the mix for now.

Later that evening, my team took me out to hear Dr. Beat Richner perform. He has a free cello concert at the local hospital auditorium every Saturday to bring awareness to the health situation in Cambodia, especially the healthcare of children and what is being done. It was absolutely incredible. I was not only brought to tears by the music, but also by the message.

But I realized that as great as the celebration was, it was the family I was with that made it truly a wonderful birthday. It was the time spent with them that I cherished the most. So I thank Di for her energetic and loving personality. I thank Zack for his appreciation of all that surrounds him. I thank Rachel for her considerate heart and her thoughtful gestures. I thank Darci for her contagious joyful spirit. I thank Dave for his comfort and encouragement. I thank Anna for her gentleness and understanding.

I praise GOD that I get to live a life for HIM and that there is loving family all around.
