Many are asking, “Who can show us any good?” Let the light of your face shine upon us, O Lord. Psalm 4:6
We walked into the Beer House, the area where the displaced families are living, and were instantly greeted with an atmosphere of despair. The government forced these families from their homes and land leaving them with no place to go. And so here they are, living together, with a bit of shelter and a bit of hope. Outside, clothes were drying on the line, and the sick rested in the warm sun. I approached a couple of mothers sitting with their sick children and prayed for them. One little girl was HIV+ and was struggling to fight off a common flu. Another little boy had a large boil on his lower back which caused him great pain. GOD led me in prayer for the mothers as well, as I felt their concern. Their hearts broke for their children who could do nothing, but just lay there, until the sun went down and it was time to sleep.
“Who can show us any good?”
We walked through the shelters that were small areas divided by sheets or plastic tarps. As many as five people lived in one sectioned off area in this storage location. I praised GOD that they had shelter, but I struggled with the darkness that existed. There were only two windows so light was scarce, which is why the sick rested outside, bundled up from the cold, but soaking in the light from the sun. There is a need for light.
Let the light of your face shine upon us, O Lord.

GOD is using us here to bring the gospel, through conversations, dramas, and our interactions with these families, HIS children, our brothers and sisters. May HIS light continue to shine!
