As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. ~Psalm 42:1

It is a deep longing within my soul. It is a desperate need for the ONE who sustains me. To pant for GOD is to gasp for HIM as HE is the breath I need, each and every breath in need of HIM. For GOD isn’t simply the desire of our hearts, but our source of Life. HE isn’t just one of our daily needs; HE is The daily bread, The living water, The ONE we live for.

Even as we sit here, waiting patiently as doors close in regards to our transportation to Mozambique, my soul yearns for GOD as HE directs my heart, my actions, my life in each moment, with each breath. Whether HE calls me to serve the squad, or leads me in prayer, or even just asks me to rest in HIM, my life is HIS.

As worldly securities are stripped away more and more, I have become more aware of how my soul truly pants for GOD. And Life now looks completely different, because I can no longer live selfishly or even live out others’ desires for my life, only GOD’s, as radical and unorthodox as that may look. For there is only ONE my soul pants for and only ONE who can sustain it. So I will go. I will go where ever HE calls. I will do whatever HE asks. And with each breath, I will strive to live for HIM and for HIM only. May it be as natural as a dear pants for streams of water and bring nothing but praise to HIM.
