During the course of training camp, a new team emerged unlike any other team before. Through various trials, team building activities, and prayer, we became g:racers. Coming up with our team name came over coffee and fellowship at Starbucks. We tried many other concepts including acrostics or acronyms, but g:racers stuck out from all the rest, and here’s why…

1. Grace – we all need it. Racer – what we all are (World Racers). Combine those two words and your get “gracer.”
2. We are G42’s. We are part of the 42nd generation after the birth of Christ, found in Matthew 1. So, Jen C. came up with the idea of writing our name “g:racers.” The g could also stand for God, who is the reason why we are world racers, or “girl” since we are all girls.
3. Our team verse is Romans 12:3-5 “For by the grace given to me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. Just as each of us is one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.”

We are all looking forward to our year together and the work that God has and is preparing for us to do. Yay for the g:racers – Kira Guerke, Kara Burrows, Jen Crane, Stephanie Davis, and Jennifer Leverett!
