Dear Friends and Family,
Hello! I hope you are well. ๐ I’d love to share with you about what’s been going on in my life recently. After graduating from the University of San Diego last May, I moved back east to Boston and am now working at an after-school program with inner-city kids. I’ve been truly blessed by the relationships I’ve built and I know God has me here, and in their lives, for a reason.
More recently though, I have been feeling a nudge to return to the mission field abroad. After a number of profound experiences during mission trips in college, God made it clear that I am called to international service. I have been praying intentionally for the past few months about where God wants me next, and a certain missions program has continued to come strongly to mind. That program is called The World Race with Adventures In Missions. At this point I have applied to the program and been accepted, and am incredibly excited about the opportunity to partner with them to serve others around the world!
The World Race is an 11-month long mission trip that travels to 11 different countries and does service in each one for a month related to the needs of the people there. My race leaves next June (2010) and backpacks to: Ireland, Ukraine, Romania, Israel, Egypt, Kenya, Uganda, an “ATL” African country (“ATL” stands for “Ask the Lord,” which means we all come together as a team and pray about where God is leading us, and then we go to that country), Thailand, Cambodia, and finally another “ATL” Asian country. I’m so excited!

We will participate in various forms of ministry and service throughout these regions, which may include teaching, church planting, evangelization, children’s ministry, HIV/AIDS education, working with victims from the sex trade/ slavery, and anything else the Lord leads us to. My heart has been easily ignited for various countries and issues around the world, and my hope is that God will direct my calling and focus my passions during these eleven months. I will be trained, discipled, and exposed to many different people and ministries, and I trust that God will open doors to potentially work with some of these organizations long-term.
That being said, such an amazing journey would not be possible without support from people like you! First and foremost, I ask for your prayers. Specifically, I would like to have at least two people commit to praying for my team and me in each country we visit; if that’s of interest to you, please email me and let me know which country you’d like to adopt! General prayers for the race are welcomed and greatly appreciated as well. ๐
Secondly, I’d like to ask for your financial support. I’m required to raise approximately $15,000 to participate in this adventure, which covers all my basic travel and living expenses while I’m gone. I know that sounds a bit daunting at first, but if sixty people commit to giving $25 each month for the next ten months, I will be fully funded! Even donations of $5 or $10 add up, so I will gratefully accept any amount you feel led to give. You can either give in monthly pledges or a one-time donation, and you can give online as well.
1. To give online, just click on the “Support Me!” tab on the left-hand side of this page!
2. To give by mail, make checks payable to “Adventures In Missions” with my appeal ID (HILLJENNIFER2) in the memo and send it to: Adventures In Missions, PO Box 534470, Atlanta, GA 30353-4470
I will be updating this blog both before the race and while I’m gone, so be sure to subscribe to it by entering your email address to the left if you want to receive updates! To find out more about the race in general, you can click on the link at the top to visit The World Race website or simply go to www.theworldrace.org. You can also email me if you have any questions! ๐ I’m eager to see the ways God is going to use, teach, and challenge me during this adventure and I would be honored if you would partner with me in the journey. Thanks again for your time, support, and for being a part of my life… I am truly blessed!
May the God of love bless you greatly this day and always,
Jenny Hill
