One of our main ministries this month has been working
alongside Luis’ organization: Nueva Generacion, and teaching Christian values
in a variety of schools around Antigua and beyond. Sometimes we have the
privilege of sharing the gospel along with the lessons, and we were able to do
just that today! So exciting!
We’ve been teaching on different subjects such as love, discipline,
potential, etc. and using Biblical references for each. We all have different
roles and parts we share during the class, and it’s been fun to see the Lord
working through each member of our team in unique ways. In the love lesson I’m
able to explain that the greatest example of love is the act of Jesus dying for
us; you truly know someone loves you if they’re willing to lay down their life
for you.
“Greater love has no one than
this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends (JESUS in John 15:13).
I then talk about how God loved the world (and each one of
them) so much that He sent His son to die for them. It’s so fun to be able to
share about the Lord’s infinite love for these kids and explain that Jesus’
life is the best example we have of how to show love to one another and to God
(to give our lives to Him).
In the discipline class I’m able to be a cheerleader and
tell them to keep going! They can do it! Even when it gets hard… God will give
them strength! 🙂 (I haven’t actually been able to give this part yet since we’ve
run out of time each lesson, but it’s all good. It will happen at some point.)
🙂
And here’s the most
exciting one of all! Get ready! We started teaching lessons on potential
today and it’s one of the few classes that actually incorporates a chance for
the students to give their lives to the Lord at the end. (!!!) As we were
planning for the lesson and going through who was going to do each part, my
teammates made sure I was able to share the gospel since they know I love it so
much. 🙂 The lesson talks about all these different examples and illustrations
of potential and how most people don’t use all of theirs. At the end I was able
to somewhat summarize what the others had said and tell the students the reason
we’re telling them about potential is because they have SO MUCH of it inside
each of them! This is all because GOD has created each one with specific
passions, talents and giftings that He wants to use in this world, but in order
to fully realize and live out the fullness of our potential we have to be in
relationship with and following the Lord. Because only He knows the great plans
that He has for each one of us (Jeremiah 29:11) and how He can uniquely use us
in the ways we were created. Luis said a few words as well, and then we asked
the students to stand up if they wanted to be connected with the Lord, live up
to their full potential as sons and daughters of Him, and give their lives to
Jesus. To my complete amazement, ALL the
kids in both classes we taught (about 50 kids total) stood up with the desire
to ask Jesus into their hearts to lead their lives!!! I
was speechless and almost began to cry as I saw all these beautiful children
stand up, ready and willing to live a new life in Christ! Luis asked me to pray
and had the students repeat after me; I was nearly shaking with joy as I prayed
for and with these precious kids. After we prayed I couldn’t help but burst
out, “YOU JUST MADE THE BEST DECISION OF
YOUR LIFE!! I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOU!! I was overwhelmed with
emotions and the Lord’s love for them. As the angels were rejoicing in heaven, I
felt a spirit of REJOICING come over me for these new lives in Christ. PRAISE
THE LORD for new members of His family and for using each one of us when we
step out in faith and fully trust in Him. I felt utterly humbled, blessed, and
honored to be used as a tool in seeing the Lord’s purposes come to fruition today.
This is kingdom. PRAISE JESUS!! 🙂
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has
gone, THE NEW HAS COME! (2 Corin. 5:17).
